About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don’t take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

User Reviews

Was skeptical about ordering online, but went ahead and purchased after confirming with Amazon that there was a 30 day guarantee (original packaging) since bike sold & shipped by Amazon. Can't beat the free shipping by Amazon and it arrived within several days of my ordering. The bike is SOLID - frame is very well built and was pleasantly surprised that the FOOT PEDALS ARE WEIGHTED. This is a plus that I didn't see any notation of. I agree with other reviews that the console is OK, but it has not limited me in the least and has enough options to keep you challenged. I'm just starting to use the programs after a couple of weeks of getting used to the ride, but so far I couldn't be happier with the stability, comfort and smooth ride! -- Very satisfied, worth it!
Got the unit and started putting it together. The instruction manual had several pages upside down. A couple of the steps weren't even in the manual. Finally figured it out. Everything was fine at that point. When I went to ride it, there is a very annoying noise as you speed up the revolutions with your feet. The noise is emanating from under the seat area where you can slide the distance from the seat to the front wheel back and forth. Also, when I went to register the unit, the serial number is non-existent. Either they forgot to stamp it (if that is how they do it) or the tag didn't get put on. I wrote several e-mails about both these issues to Schwinn's service, but they have not answered. The bike itself runs well other than that noise in the back. I hope I don't have a major problem with the unit down the road as it is quite obvious they do NOT care about follow-up service. That is an easy way to lose future customers, as I WOULD have been one for other exercise gear.....NOT NOW!!!!!!!!!!! -- TERRIBLE SERVICE
After spending the past 20 minutes on this bike, trying to figure out how to get to my programmable/saved workouts, I have had it. I've had the bike for 4 weeks, and if you just want to do quick start and ride the thing, it's fine. But if you want to actually USE the programmable workouts, forget it. By trial and error, I have managed to find my way to the programmable workouts 4 times, despite riding this thing 5 times a week for 4 weeks. It is the WORST piece of equipment I have ever used. If I just wanted a manual bike, I would not have paid $400+ and wasted my time and effort. The booklet that comes with this is crap, and has better use as a fire-starter than an actual manual.

If I could afford it, I would throw this thing in the garbage and buy something that is useful and worth the money. There is no chance that I'll buy a Schwinn product ever again, and I'm saving my pennies until I can buy something that actually does what it is supposed to.

Do NOT buy this piece of crap. Spend your money wisely. You can get a manual bike, or a spinning bike, or something else, for FAR less money. Get a treadmill and walk on it. You won't be as frustrated as you will be with this garbage.

The 20 minutes I spent today desparately trying to figure this out, and the time (5-10 minutes with each workout) that I wasted each other time trying to figure it out, would have been better spent on actually working out. I should have given up, but I thought I should be able to figure this out. I'm a college graduate; I'm not an idiot. It's possible I have a faulty machine, but:
1) if you read the other reviews, you'll see that even the 5 star reviews mention the inferior programming feature
2) How the heck am I going to take apart and pack up this gargantuan piece of crap and ship it back? I'm certain they won't take it back, and I'll be wasting my time.

So, if I can influence you at all, don't buy this. Maybe the company will figure it out and actually either give decent instructions or fix the thing so that it actually works.

I am completely disgusted with this. -- The WORST computer console ever
I just received this item yesterday. They said it would be here on the 28th and it was. Assembly was easy. I have only been on it for one mile so far but I am very pleased with the product. It's comfy, seems well made, it is extremely quiet. So far so good. This was the only trustworthy place that i could find on the internet that offered me no tax, no shipping charges so it saved me a bundle. I am pleased with the service and also the product. -- Very Pleased!
I bought this bike as a replacement for a regular recumbent bike that I had nearly three years. We tried out a lot of different models and brands and finally found this one at one of the sport stores. Unfortunately at the time, they were out of stock. We found this at Amazon - took advantage of their free shipping - and viola we had a new bike. The bike if very comfortable - has many different workouts and well really give you a great workout. Well worth the money - still a lot cheaper and convenient than paying for a gym membership. -- Great Workout
